Letter to the Members Dear Members, The executive committee of your association wishes you a very happy and prosperous new year 2009. This is to update you on the various developmental tasks within our layouts for which the Executive Committee is persuading with BBMP. Further to this, the executive committee met Sri Aravind Limbavali, Minister for higher education government of Karnataka and appraised him on the basic civic requirements in our layouts mainly Road and Water. The BBMP has surveyed our layout for the Road development and has prepared estimation report which has been sent for approval. Subsequent to this , we also attended the JANASPANDANA meeting on 2nd Jan 2009 where apart from the various civic authorities, our area MLA and minister for higher education Sri Aravind Limbavali was also present. We have presented our problems in detail to them. They have assured that all our problems will be suitably addressed very early. By now you all must be aware that the BBMP has published the new property tax draft notification. According to BBMP officials the new SAS property tax collection would start some time from Feb 2009. On behalf of our association, I request you to pay the property tax at the earliest and let us know once you pay the taxes. This will help us in further persuading the BBMP for betterment of our layout. You would be aware of the new empowerment scheme being introduced by the BBMP / Government. According to which, minor developmental activities of the layouts are to be undertaken by the Residents Welfare Association of the respective layouts. The costs therefore will be met out of a special joint account opened by the BBMP and the respective Residents Association. Even while the expenses will be generally met by the BBMP in respect of all developmental activities, there is a provision that the Welfare Associations can help them expedite work by depositing their own contribution for the work, when the BBMP will also provide a matching grant immediately. It is therefore necessary that all members clear all their dues and all plot owners become regular members of the association so that our association can make matching contributions from time to time. According to the new scheme, it is imperative, though not explicitly stated but inherently understood that every plot owner must belong to the Residents Welfare Association of his locality. I would request that this requirement may also kindly be conveyed to your friend plot owners who are not members of the association yet. The General Body Meeting on 28/09/2008, saw a very poor attendance of the members which is a very disappointing and discouraging factor. In spite of several reminders through SMS, only 17 members attended the meeting. With such a poor attendance the executive committee could not take any decision on how to go about issues concerning bad roads and water facility etc in the layout. Many members have not paid the annual subscription which is the back bone for running the association and taking any developmental activities. You are therefore requested to pay the annual subscription dues at the earliest.* On behalf of association, I urge your full cooperation and support in the welfare activities of our layouts and request to clear all dues at the earliest. Yours truly, Arun Manthalkar Secretary *Your subscription dues for the Year :______________________ Total:______________________
